It takes an average of 7 tries for a woman to get out of a domestic violence relationship. That is 6 times too many! Carol’s Heart is dedicated to turning ~~seven~~ into ONE! When a woman leaves an abusive relationship, she is often faced with many challenges. Safe-houses are amazing short-term emergency resources. However, some last as little as 30 days. This is not enough time to rebuild a life. Especially for those who have been isolated and have no job, housing, or childcare. Abuse often persists for years after a woman has left. Statistics show a 75% increase of violence upon separation for at least 2 years. Perpetrators use new found legal and financial abuse tactics that they didn’t have while their partner was fully under their control. A woman’s ability to protect her children from the danger they had to flee from is even more precarious; as needing government aid can stand as a road block to custody. The courts function on law…NOT on truth. There is no justice without truth. But there is hope. Carol’s Heart strives to provide resources that will not harm a mothers attempt to protect her children.

Woman and children exiting the safe-house programs with a positive review, can qualify for a scholarship to Carol’s Heart. This will give them 1-3 years of time and resources to rebuild their families in a safe, stable, sustainable, and loving environment.
